My chosen media product is making a music video, designing a website for the band and a poster promoting the song.The genre of this video is pop rock/post hardcore which is a sub genre of rock.
At first i anylised the lyrics for 'All I Want' and my original idea was to have the band performing throughout with cuts to a couple in love, having a narrative. For a certain few lyrics in my video, i got everyone to stand together and shout the lyrics as it shows that the crowd are joining in and having fun. The beginning shot i wanted to show three fan girls that were trying to watch a broken tv, and that when the song comes on, it fades into the band actually playing the song were the girls appear in the crowd and at the party. I used various conventions of the music video genre, rock, as rock bands play their instruments themselves it is vital to have performance in their video, which i then had the idea of them performing to their friends at a party. Alongside the performance i used narrative parts from my original filming, which would show a love story between a boy and a girl. In the video i shot a close up of one of the band members playing the guitar along to the song. which is shown a lot in rock videos as they are playing their own music. I took a few ideas from some of the videos i analysed such as in the video 'Caraphernelia' by 'Pierce the Veil' I used the shot were one of the actors was shouting down the phone. This showed that there could be someone else at the other end and the actor was singing to them. Also as my original plan didn't go as I expected, so after I'd filmed the video i added pictures at the end to show what else happened through the music video, I took this idea from 'Bless the Fall's 'Hey Baby, Here's That Song You Wanted'. As i wanted the party look throughout my video, i got two members of the band to take the camera themselves and film themselves singing like the band You Me At Six do in their video 'Gossip'. in Good Charlotte's video 'I Just Wanna' Live', a few of the band members are dressed in vegetable costumes, which gave me an idea of one actor to come dressed up in their banana costume which would add humour to the video, and that he would look like the clown of the crowd.
One of the ancillary texts i chose to do was the website homepage, i created this on photoshop. I looked at and researched various websites in the same genre so i would have an idea what i wanted the webpage to look like. To do this, firstly i needed to design a logo to put on the page as it shows that it is the bands official website. I then featured other links that normally appear at the top of the page such as 'home', 'tour', 'news' ect. The main feature on the page could normally be a big update with the band, in my case it is their new album and video, and have featured the video on the page. To promote the band more, bands usually put their other websites on their main site such as 'myspace' or 'facebook' which then gave me an idea to put that on mine. As i didn't design a digipak i still used the front cover on my website with all the names of the songs to inform people.
I wanted to use a shot that i hadn't used before and decided to try a dolly zoom which is done by zooming in whilst moving the camera back.
In this shot instead of using all three actors which did this stunt, i used one and extended the shot by also replaying it backwards slowly so you could see all the water splashing in slow motion.
Throughout the party scene a lot of party poppers were used and i asked an actor to shoot one directly at the camera, after doing this i had realised it had also cought the spark and thought it looked like a really good effect.
This shot was part of my original filming, to have a narrative of a love story, i figured i could still fit the narrative in, and sped the speed up to play along the music.
During the song there was certain lyrics i anylised that these shots would have fit too such as 'whole world in front of me' unfortunately because i changed my idea the lyrics were not available to these shots, but i managed to still fit them in as i still wanted a romantic narrative
This was also another wide shot that i felt like i couldn't used but manged to do so.
In this shot i asked all the actors to come together and shout certain lyrics from the song.
Throughout my A2, i have used many different technologies. At first we had to use a digital camera to take photos of our storyboard to make the animatic, the animatic was made on an editing suite. I also used the digital camera to take photos of my locations of were i had filmed and to take photos that i used in the music video. Secondly we had to use a film camera so we could film the shots which allowed me to capture my footage, on a tape, i used this at first to practice some shots so by the time it came to filming i would know how to use this camera confidfently. To make our music video we had to use an edit suite and, our practice making film we created in AS helped so that i was ready to use it in A2. When producing the ancillary tasks, I used Adobe Photoshop CS3, using my knowledge from last years coursework i successfully created them. On my poster i was able to change the contrast of the picture and design a background for it. Youtube also helped as to upload a video on there made it easier to upload a video on blogger.

There was many ideas i had to change in my video as because of my situation i had very little time to do it in and the actual band i was using kept cancelling on me. I had a few hours to get as many people as i could together so that i could form a few people in a band, and have enough people to look as if there was a party going on. No one was up for being the lead singer from the band, so i didn't have much footage of the lead singer as most of the time he was messing around. The bits that the singer could sing, i managed to sync it along with the song so it looked like he was performing. Due to this i also had no drummer, so all the shots that included a drummer either performing with the band or on his own i couldn't do.
